Inaugural Issue of
Extension Extra!

Do you know why TexasCEF distributes
7 inch rulers?

With CEF you always get a little bit more!

CEF Ruler

Welcome to Extension Extra ... a little bit more from TexasCEF.  This new communication is designed to bring you timely information about the church extension ministry.  For example, the new investment rates for next month (July) are included below.  We intend to share these with you each month as soon as they are set.  We will also be able to tell you about ground breaking, dedication & note burning services.  When one is in your area at a sister congregation you may want to join in the celebration.  Extension Extra will not be published on a schedule but rather we will send it to you when there is news to report.  Extension Extra is not intended to replace the monthly issue of Chatter or the articles in the Texas Messenger in The Lutheran Witness.  You will want to continue to read both of those to get information about church extension activities, too.  We hope you like this Extra from CEF.

If you do not want to receive Extension Extra see the information at the end of the newsletter for instructions to "unsubscribe."

St. Mark Lutheran Church
in Lake Jackson celebrated breaking ground for their new Multi-Purpose Building on June 8, 2008.  Pictured here are congregation leaders preparing to "turn dirt."  The congregation prepared the place for ground breaking in the form of a cross.

Leaders (left to right): Pastor Steven Larsen, Rachel Cloeter, Keith Weiss, Rick Hardoin (Co-Chair of Capital Campaign Committee), Donna Hicks (congregational representative at St. Mark), Chris Davies, Larry Schmiege (Executive Director) and Rick Mergenhagen.
Leaders at Groundbreaking
Million Dollar Bills Executive Director Stephen Block represented Texas District Church Extension Fund and all its investors at the ground breaking.  He is pictured here handing two "million dollar bills" to Building Committee Chairman Chris Davies.  A loan from church extension is making this project possible.
Model The new Multi-Purpose Building is seen at the bottom of the picture below the congregation's sanctuary.  The new construction replaces the very first worship center built on the property.  The model was created to help congregation members visualize what the completed project would look like.
Allie Habeck and her big sister, Madison, are wearing plastic crosses filled with dirt from the ground breaking.  The crosses and yellow "hard hats" were distributed to all the children.  The crosses can be worn, hung up in a prominent place at home or in the car to remind everyone to pray for the project's success, the workers' safety and for opportunities to share Jesus' love with people who aren't yet connected to the Savior.

Vision Statement: St. Mark Lutheran Church Celebrates the Risen Christ by Reaching the Lost, Growing in Faith, Serving in Love.
