Come See and Celebrate

The congregation's new Community Center is almost complete.  They are preparing for a Grand Opening on Sunday, October 12, 2008.  You are invited to be there and see how your investments are being used.

Outside of Building
It Started with a Dream

Salem's project started with a dream.  Creating a facility that would connect to their community in additional ways.  The Community Center includes a Sports Recreation Center, Children and Youth Center and Atrium and Main Street.

They are "Building community one life at a time!"

Groundbreaking and Baptisms

Almost one year before Grand Opening - to the day - on October 14, 2007 construction started with a groundbreaking service.  As part of the service the congregation had outdoor baptisms.  Senior Pastor Wayne Graumann (center of photo) is performing one of 56 baptisms done by three pastors.  It was a day to celebrate commencement of physical building as well as Kingdom building.

Contractor and Kids Work the Walls

The contractor erected the concrete tilt-walls with a big crane (right).  The kids made their contribution (below), too.  They put their names on the wall.  They put Bible verses like Philippians 4:13 on the wall.  They drew crosses because, "Jesus loves you."  They can even teach you a new acronym: F.R.O.G.

Repeat Performance?

Pictured here is the almost complete atrium in the new Community Center.  It is located on "Main Street" and will serve as the hub for activities.  Up the stairs and through the doors is the double gymnasium.

At the Grand Opening on October 12, 2008 the congregation will again have baptisms as part of the services.  They will take place here in the atrium - built over the spot where the October 14, 2007 baptisms took place.

It's All About the Cross

The single most important reason for a congregation to undertake a project like this is to introduce more people to Jesus Christ.  The reason Texas District Church Extension Fund exists is all about the cross, too.  When Texas District Lutherans invest a part of their savings in CEF we can make the loans that provide the space and the place for Gospel proclamation.

Join Salem on October 12, 2008 for Grand Opening, Baptisms, and celebrating God's goodness.  Grand Opening is scheduled for 10:30 am.  It will be followed by their annual DeutschesFest at 11:30 am.  Learn more about the day's activities and the congregation's ministries at Salem's website.

Join TexasCEF and become an investor (or re-investor).  We continue to need additional investments so that we can say, "YES", when the next congregation comes with plans to build.
