Lent

In this traditional time of Lent, Christians around the world remember the events leading up to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Did you know?

The word "lent" comes from the German word "lenz", meaning spring.

In the ancient Church, Christians used this time of reflection to lead up to Baptisms. It was a time of remembering the sufferings of Christ, and focusing on being a child of God.

It is believed pretzels were incorporated into Lent and Easter meals because the shape resembled praying hands, they did not contain eggs, lard or dairy, and the three holes are a reminder of the trinity. Pretzels are associated with Lent, fasting and prayers.
